TUC Risks Being Replaced By Future TUC H&S Newsletter

Union Safety Reps opinions sought

The TUC is contacting all those on its health & Safety mailing list to request their views on a future TUC Health & Safety newsletter as a result of the ending of TUC Risks as the Union body re-assesses its communications strategy on health and safety issues.

As reported previously, TUC's budgetary constraints and the loss of sponsorship saw the demise of TUC Risks edited and produced by Rory O'Neill who is also the editor of Hazards Magazine.

Nevertheless, it is most welcome that the TUC will be supporting Union Safety Reps in the near future via a rebranded health and safety newsletter.

In an email being received by members of their mailing list this week, Shelly Asquith advises the ending of TUC Risks and promotes the idea of a new TUC H&S Newsletter, whilst seeking the views of USRs across the trade union movement:

"I'm contacting you today as you’ve said you’d like to receive health and safety news and updates from the TUC. The previous edition of Risks, the TUC's H&S newsletter, will be the last for a while as we take a short break to make some changes to our news service.

In the meantime, we would like to hear from you. Please tell us what content you'd like to receive from us, what you think about our newsletters and how we can make it even better by taking just a few minutes to complete this survey."

It is imperative that Union Safety Reps support the TUCs Health & Safety news initiative and in doing so enables them to hopefully influence the type of H&S information, format and design of the newsletter which will replace TUC Risks which ran for over 20 years and was the 'bible of H&S News' in the view of many Union Safety Reps and within the Health & Safety wider community.
